Retail Marketing Suite 6.1 FAQ

Web Analytic Link Tracking

What does Sitebrand add to web analytic link tracking?
Sitebrand augments your web analytic link tracking by enabling tracking tags to be embedded in the URLs that are served to the web site visitor. This allows the marketer to gain insight into the visitor's interaction with the content being served and from that knowledge can gauge its effectiveness using standard web link tracking metrics.
How is link tracking different for Landing Pages versus Web Campaigns?
From the analytics provider's perspective, there is no difference. In terms of integration of the tracking tags, Web Campaigns have a URL builder for clickable content for Google Analytics and Coremetrics which aid in the creation of the correct URL format. In contrast, Landing Pages serve your HTML code back to the visitor. This means that the Landing Page HTML source must also include the link tracking code in order to be sent from the visitor's browser.
Can I use other analytics providers other than Google or Coremetrics?
Absolutely, for Web Campaigns develop your link tracking with your current tools and paste the track-enabled URL into the URL text box. For Landing pages, the tracking code needs to be part of the HTML source that is copied into the HTML text window within each Landing Page configuration.

Personalization Impact

What is Overall Impact?
Overall Impact is a measure of personalization using a control group method that divides all your visitors into two populations: the first population receives personalized content where as the second receives generic (or non-promotional) content. By comparing the outcomes of the two groups you can assess whether or not personalization is achieving your goals.
How do I use the Overall Control Group?
You can specify a small percentage of visitors be selected for the Overall Control Group by selecting Setup » Overall Control Group in the Sitebrand Retail Marketing Suite. This enables you regulate the amount of visitors placed in the control group for the effectiveness comparison.
What is the difference between the Overall Control Group and a Campaign Control Group?
If a visitor is placed in the Overall Control Group, then the visitor is sent control content for the entire browser session. Whereas the Campaign Control Group only applies if the campaign is shown to the visitor and that visitor is also selected for control content for that visitor session. The Campaign Control Group is used to measure the effectiveness of a single campaign, whereas the Overall Control Group is used to measure the effectiveness of the Sitebrand Retail Marketing Suite as a whole.
Does the Overall Control Group affect Control Groups for individual Campaigns?
No. You still need to have a unique control group size for each individual Web Campaign if you want to known its impact.

For example, if your Overall Control Group is set to 10%, and a campaign has a control group of 20%, then that campaign will have a 72% chance of being visible to any user that meets it's conditions ((100-10%) * (100-20%) = 72%).
Do I have to use the Overall Control Group feature?
No. You can set the Overall Control Group size to zero (0%). We do however recommend making use of this feature, as it will give you a very clear measurement of what the Sitebrand Retail Marketing Suite is doing for you.

Landing Pages

Can you combine Web Campaigns within the landing pages?
Yes, but using

Web Campaigns

within a

Landing Page

will provide challenges for reporting in terms of which marketing activity should be credited with the success: the landing page or the Web Campaign. For this reason, we recommend that you talk to your Sitebrand Account Manager before proceeding as there might be easier methods to achieve the same result and keep the reporting populations separate.
Can a Landing Page be applied to pages where we already have a Sitebrand control area?
No, Landing Pages are by definition a visitor's entry point into your website, typically from a marketing initiative such as a Google Adword, an Email or blog that needs to be track separately from the regular website traffic to evaluate its effectiveness.

To serve the HTML source to the visitor, Sitebrand uses it's integrations to segment the visitor and then send them the appropriate HTML content if it is a Landing Page. Within the served HTML, additional Sitebrand Content Spaces can be embedded to further increase the personalization shown to the visitor.
Do all of my landing pages need to be the same dimensions?
No.
Is there a limit to the number of landing pages I can have running at any given time?
No. You can have as many Landing Pages as required, currently there is no limit.
Can I use the landing page feature to create a permanent landing page rather than for market testing purposes?
Yes. This feature will allow your visitors and shoppers communicate with you on a regular basis about their preferred experience. By reviewing the reports, you can make educated decisions on the messaging and content within the Landing Page that will limit your bounce rate considerably.
How are the best/worst performing campaigns decided?
Yield Lift(%) will determine the ranking of Landing Pages and the best & worst performers are selected from the top and bottom of the list respectively. The Yield Lift(%) is determined by the following formula:
Yield Lift(%) = ((Yield Lift - Yield Lift Control) / Yield Lift Control) * 100
I made changes that are not appearing in my campaign overview, why is this happening?
Our system stores (or caches) information about the content spaces you set up on your site. This caching happens on an internal schedule at Sitebrand, which means that sometimes during your testing, our script may not have run, your cache hasn't been updated, and you won't see the results of your changes. To force an immediate refresh, follow the steps outlined below:
  1. Navigate to the Setup tab of the Landing Pages category.
  2. Click on Landing Page Content Spaces.
  3. Click on the Clear Page Space Cache tab near the top of the list.
  4. Click Clear Content Space Cache.
My employees frequent our website in performance of their daily duties. Will this disrupt the integrity of the landing page reporting?
Yes, having your employee interact with your website can impact both your personalization impact as well as any third party web.
To prevent this confusion, you can use the Filter IP Addresses feature under the Setup menu to have Sitebrand's RMS ignore visits from the listed IP's. Follow the steps outlined below:
  1. Navigate to Setup under the Landing Pages category.
  2. Click on General Setup.
  3. Click Filter IP Addresses.
  4. In the fields provided enter the IP address(es) you wish to remove from the reporting data.
  5. Enter a description and press the Add Filter button.
When should I prioritize landing pages to ensure best results?
By prioritizing Landing Pages, you can control which Landing Page is shown to your visitor. If a visitor fits the triggering rules of two or more landing pages, Sitebrand uses the priority system to determine which Landing Page will be chosen.

Example:
You may identify your "California" segment as a better opportunity for increased conversions then say the keyword "red shoes" segment. Picture a visitor coming in from California by searching Google with the keywords "red shoes". By having the California Landing Page campaign of higher priority we can increase the probability that one of the California landing page options will be shown rather than "red shoes".

Content Space Locking

What is content space locking?
When a Content Space has multiple Web Campaigns assigned to it, Content Space locking can be used to show and lock the first Web Campaign selected. No other triggering rules will be processed for that Content Space. Example:
If a US marketer has a specific campaign to promote, such as an offer for Canadians to accept Canadian dollars at par, and would like the same offer to be shown in the same Content Space for the duration of the visit, then the marketer should enable the Content Space lock feature.
Does Content Space locking affect all campaigns or only the ones that use this content space?
A Content Space lock only has control over the specific Content Space and does not affect the evaluation of Web Campaigns in other areas of the page or your website.

Web Campaign Locking

What is campaign locking?
Campaign locking is a new attribute of a campaign that enables you to lock a Web Campaign into a Content Space as determined by the triggering rules and prevent its replacement by other Web Campaigns for the duration of the visitor session.

Note: Until a Web Campaign with locking enabled is executed, the Content Space is able to show any campaign that matches the triggering rules.
Can I lock multiple campaigns?
Yes.
How do I know if my campaign is locked?
There are two ways to quickly identify if it is locked. When you view the campaign overview, the visualization will show in the bottom of the graphic if there is a lock enabled. You can also view under Advanced Options of each campaign towards the bottom of the options, if there is a lock enabled.
Will the campaign locking automatically turn off after a specified period?
No, campaign locking is a fully user managed option.

Priority System

What is the priority system?
The priority system allows you more control over the selection of campaigns that are displayed to the visitor in a specific Content Space or Landing Page when multiple triggering criteria have been met.

Example:
If you had a "New Shopper" and a "Free Shipping to Canada" campaign running, and a new shopper came to your website from Canada, which would fire first? If you specify the "First Time Shopper" to have a higher priority, then that's what happens every time, until the next time that visitor returns in which case they are not a first time shopper, and the "Free Shipping to Canada" campaign can fire.
If some campaigns are prioritized and others are not, will the non-prioritized ones ever be shown?
Yes, but only if the prioritized Web Campaigns do not match the triggering rules.
How will Sitebrand choose between the unprioritized campaigns?
The Web Campaigns will be selected using an evenly balanced segmentation, ensuring that all campaigns will receive an equal amount of visitors.
How do I get all my campaigns to fire equally/randomly?
Remove all the prioritizations of a Content Space and Sitebrand's RMS will balance all the campaigns equally
