Responsibilities

  • Develop architectural framework and design of Web and ASP applications
  • Steward the Programming team's methodology, standards, documentation, and best practices
  • Assume technical leadership role on relatively large projects
  • Hands-on knowledge to code and lead developers by example
  • Evaluate the work of peers, conduct code and design reviews and advise other programmers on coding, design, testing/debugging
  • Exercise leadership in innovation through superior technical and domain knowledge
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools and techniques to the Development team
  • Detailed understanding of product development life-cycle and application domain
  • Produce specifications and design requirements based on stakeholder needs
  • In-depth knowledge of specific applications from a standpoint of design, functions, constraints, interactions, exception conditions and evolution

Qualifications

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent, Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java 2 Platform
  • Minimum 7+ years architecture, design and development experience creating web-based applications and Web Services in a 3-tiered architecture using Java and J2EE
  • Business-tier design, development and implementation using Java and J2EE
  • Experience in developing highly reliable and scalable data retrieval applications
  • Internet Search and e-commerce experience/knowledge would be an asset
  • Experience with security design and implementation, ranging from Web to wireless applications is an asset
  • Solid experience with object-oriented programming techniques and component architectures
  • Highly motivated with a proven ability to deliver.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience with Agile methodology and XP

Technical Skills

  • Java/J2EE, JMS, JNDI, EJB, XSLT, JSTL and JSP
  • HTML, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, XML, and AJAX
  • Design Patterns, OOAD
  • Struts and MVC
  • Object Relational Mapping (preferably Hibernate)
  • SAX/DOM Parsers
  • Oracle 9i and MySQL 5.0 database experience, including architecture, development and deployment for high availability
  • Technical infrastructure design, architecture and deployment.
  • Apache Web server and Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic
  • SVN or other source control systems
  • Experience working with Internet based ESB solutions an asset
  • Knowledge of Mavern, Ant, Junit, UML would be an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX and Linux
  • Strong documentation skills
